SpenIt Privacy Policy

Overview

SpenIt helps you record expenses, income, receipts, pay slips, backups, and spending insights. Most records are stored on your device. Some optional features send selected data to third-party services only when you choose to use those features.

Information You Provide

You may add receipt photos, PDFs, receipt details, merchant names, categories, notes, income records, tax-deductible markers, currency preferences, AI provider API keys, and backup settings.

Authentication and Backups

Google sign-in is optional. If you sign in with Google, SpenIt uses your Google profile information, such as your name, email address, and profile photo, to identify your account in the app and to request Google Drive permission only when you choose to use Google Drive backup or restore.

Google Drive backup and restore are optional. When enabled, SpenIt uses the Google Drive appDataFolder scope to create and read a private app backup file named spenit_backup.json. This file is stored in your Google Drive app data folder and is not shown in your regular Drive files. The backup may include your receipts, receipt line items, receipt image references or archived receipt files, income entries, currency settings, backup metadata, and other app records needed to restore SpenIt on your device.

SpenIt uses Google Drive data only to back up and restore your SpenIt records. SpenIt does not use Google Drive data for advertising, does not sell it, and does not share it except as needed to provide backup and restore functionality. If you enable iCloud backup on iOS, SpenIt stores backup data in your iCloud container.

AI Features

If AI features are enabled, SpenIt may send receipt images, PDFs, pay slips, transaction text, and summarized spending or income information to SpenIt's backend AI proxy and configured third-party AI providers such as OpenAI, Gemini, or DeepSeek to extract records or generate insights. The backend proxy helps keep built-in provider API keys out of the mobile app and forwards AI requests for app functionality. SpenIt asks for permission before sending personal financial data for AI processing. You can turn off AI receipt scanning to attach receipt images or PDFs for reference without automatic extraction, and you can also provide your own API key in Settings.

Notifications and Purchases

SpenIt may use local notifications for backup progress, shared-file processing, AI quota alerts, and insight refresh updates. In-app purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play; SpenIt does not collect your payment card details.

How We Use Information

We use information to provide app functionality, organize your records, process AI extraction and insights, protect access with app lock, restore backups, manage subscriptions, and provide support.

Data Sharing

SpenIt does not sell your data or use it for advertising. Data may be processed by third-party services only as needed for app functionality, including Google sign-in, Google Drive, iCloud, SpenIt's backend AI proxy, AI providers, App Store or Google Play billing, and operating-system notification services.

Data Retention and Deletion

Local records remain on your device until you delete them, use the in-app account deletion option, or uninstall the app. You can delete your local SpenIt account and data from Settings by choosing Delete Account & Data. This removes your local profile, receipts, income records, AI keys, cached AI insights, and sign-in data from the device.

Google Drive backups remain in your Google Drive app data folder until you delete the backup through SpenIt, remove SpenIt's access from your Google Account, or delete the app's hidden app data from Google Drive settings. iCloud backups remain in your iCloud account until you remove them.
